Fluency picks up where Foundations ends. You already know where every letter is; this course is about the space between them. It works on rhythm before speed, on the two hundred words that make up most of what anyone types, on the reaches that trip fast typists up, on prose with real punctuation and numbers in it, and finally on sustained passages that ask you to hold accuracy for five minutes at a time. Each lesson still opens with a short read and closes with a check, and each unit still ends with a Weak Spot Drill built from your own errors. Finish it at forty-five words a minute with ninety-seven percent accuracy and you can call yourself fluent.

Units and lessons

Unit 1

Rhythm before speed

Even pace, eyes ahead, cheap corrections. The three habits everything else rests on.

Unit 2

The words that carry English

Two hundred words and the letter pairs inside them, until they are shapes rather than spellings.

Unit 3

Awkward reaches at speed

Same-finger pairs, little-finger work and rolls: the movements that set a typist's ceiling.

Unit 4

Prose

Full punctuation, digits and symbols in the kind of text a real document has.

Unit 5

Endurance and precision

Timed runs that last, a precision run that forbids errors, and graduation.
